After your benchmarking, what’s next?
Once your ENERGY STAR ranking is determined, you might ask:
“Am I satisfied with my score?”
“Is there a good business opportunity to improve efficiency and profitability?”
An onsite building audit may be the next practical step to see where you might improve your energy efficiency. Energy Benchmark Services offers two levels of on site energy audits, as established by the American Society for Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).
Level 1: Walk-through Audit involves a facility tour to inspect each of the energy using systems and analysis of energy bills to produce a rough estimate of how energy is used in your building. The walk-through can provide an initial estimate of savings potential and a list of possible savings opportunities that can be gained through improvements.
Level 2: Energy Survey and Analysis offers an end-use breakdown of energy use in the building, a savings and cost analysis of all practical measures that meet the owner’s constraints, and a discussion of operations and maintenance procedures. It also lists potential capital improvements that require more thorough data collection and analysis along with an initial judgment of potential costs and savings. This level of analysis is adequate for most buildings.
Cost
The fee for either level of audit is based on the specifics of each building and situation.
